Kristine Potter has been awarded the George Gund Foundation’s 2025 Photography Commission. Established in 2010, the Gund Commission recognizes artists whose work reflects a deep engagement with place, history, and the complexities of contemporary life. Each year, one artist is invited to create a new body of work responding to Cleveland and its communities—a reflection of the Foundation’s belief in art’s power to shape civic imagination. Potter’s project, Bridgesexplores the city’s iconic bridges as both physical and symbolic connectors—sites of resilience, tension, and renewal.

As Catherine Gund, Board Chair, writes: “This is a year of bridges: between generations, between despair and determination, between what we have inherited and what we dare to create. The Gund Foundation moves forward with justice in our hearts, joy in our practice, and the long work ahead held firmly in our hands.”
